Archewell boss resigns days before Harry and Meghan's Netflix documentary airs

The president of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell company has stepped down from her role in the business. The leadership change comes days before the Duke and Duchess' controversial Netflix docu-series is to due to air. According to the Mirror, it is understood that the royals will take on full leadership of the company.

Mandana Dayani, who has been reported as a key ally for Harry and Meghan, has been at the helm of the couple's media and charitable empire for less than 18 months. A statement from Archewell was at pains to make clear they had not fallen out.

Ms Dayani, 40, whose Instagram account describes her as an entrepreneur, steps down from leading the company at the same time that TV insiders warn that the upcoming jointly produced Archewell and Netflix series will make very uncomfortable viewing for the royal family. The six-part series is expected to spark further backlash with one source reported as saying: “I genuinely think it’s going to be worse than the royals can imagine. I’m told that it’s going to be utterly explosive and will be very damaging.”

In a statement Archewell said: "Ms Deyani has been an integral part of Archewell and we are grateful for her passion, commitment and leadership. Ms Deyani was brought on during their parental leave to move the company and its projects forward.

"She has continued to shape its vision and future successfully. Her transition was mutually planned, with intent for The Duke and Duchess to now take full lead of their company. There will be no replacement for this position, and Ms Deyani is fully supportive of the Duke and Duchess in their leadership roles, and they remain friends."

Ms Deyani ran the day-to-day operations at the company. They also played an integral role in setting up Meghan's Spotify podcast Archetypes.
