Archdiocese announces restructuring of several parishes on North and Southwest Sides

St. John Berchmans in Logan Square. | St. John Berchmans

The Archdiocese of Chicago on Monday announced restructuring plans for several parishes.

St. Hedwig in Bucktown and St. John Berchmans in Logan Square will unite to form a new parish at two worship sites. Both churches will continue to have a regular schedule of Masses, which may differ from their current schedule.

And a new name will be determined at a later date.

There are no structural changes to St. John Berchmans School.

And on the Southwest Side, St. Bede the Venerable and St. Denis will unite to form a new parish. A new name will be determined at a later date.

The churches will maintain a regular Mass schedule, but it may differ from their current schedules.

And St. Thomas More parish will become a canonical mission, connected to the newly formed parish of St. Bede and St. Denis.

The changes the archdiocese announced Monday will go into effect no later than July 1, 2021.

The moves are part of Renew My Church restructuring plan.
