A large arch portraying the royal emblem for the coronation of His Majesty the King will be put up at Sanam Luang next week, adding to the spectacle of celebrations ahead of ceremonies which will take place May 4-6.

Pol Lt Gen Kraiboon Suadsong, head of the Police Strategy Office, said the installation of the arch which was commissioned by the Office of the Permanent Secretary and the Prime Minister's Office will be completed by Wednesday. He said Sanam Luang and areas along the royal procession route will also be adorned with lights which should be a feast for the eyes during the momentous royal event.

A fleet of ordinary shuttle buses will be deployed between May 1-4 and May 6-7, while air-conditioned buses will be provided on May 5, the day the royal processions take place. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister's Office has warned against illegal production and distribution of commemorative pins for the coronation ceremonies.

Sompas Nilapund, deputy permanent secretary for the Prime Minister's Office, said authorities are coming up with measures to prevent illegal distribution after an offender was given a four-year prison term without suspension for illegally selling the pins.
