Festival of the Lost’s Arcane Embrace ushered in a new archetype for shotguns in Destiny 2 back in 2024, transplanting the Heavy Burst frame to this category. Now it’s back, with more perks and more fun to be had, especially if you have a god roll.
Arcane Embrace is an Arc Heavy Burst shotgun, and there are only two of those in the entire game. There’s a wealth of good options for a god roll, but its main use is to deal with tankier targets, like Champions, inside of PvE.
Here are our god rolls for Arcane Embrace in Destiny 2.

What is the Arcane Embrace god roll in Destiny 2?

Arcane Embrace PvE god roll
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
- Magazine: Tactical Mag
- Perk one: Reconstruction or Fourth Time’s the Charm
- Perk two: Precision Instrument
- Masterwork: Reload Speed or Handling
Arcane Embrace PvP god roll
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
- Magazine: Accurized Rounds
- Perk one: Lone Wolf
- Perk two: Aggregate Charge or Dragonfly
- Masterwork: Range
Arcane Embrace can deal solid damage and become a part of your DPS rotation, even though it doesn’t have Trench Barrel like the bugged 2024 version did. Fourth Time’s the Charm has always been a good choice to return two rounds to the mag (out of thin air) for every four precision hits. For more general play, there’s also Reconstruction, which reloads the weapon up to double the capacity.
In the fourth column, the best choice is Precision Instrument. Precision Instrument increases precision damage for up to 25 percent when dealing sustained damage to the target. Thanks to the Heavy Burst archetype, you can get all the Precision Instrument stacks quite fast.
There are perks for Arc synergy, too. Voltshot and Rolling Storm are both present in the fourth column, although they’re more viable on primary weapons for consistency.
Heavy Burst shotguns aren’t the play in the Crucible because you need to land both shots in a burst to secure a kill, and one of them should be a precision hit. What’s worse is that Arcane Embrace doesn’t have any decent perk combinations for PvP.
There’s Lone Wolf in the third column to get five aim assist (increasing to 10 when no allies are nearby), but there’s nothing to pair it with. The best you can do is Dragonfly, which requires a precision kill to trigger, or Aggregate Charge to gain increased damage against debuffed targets if your build can apply debuffs.
How to get Arcane Embrace in Destiny 2

You can get Arcane Embrace during the Festival of the Lost event. There are two event activities: Haunted Altars, a six-player PvE activity, and Red Rum(ble) PvP activity. Both award multiple event drops as completion rewards.
Outside of those activities, you can also do anything in the Portal with the grey Festival of the Lost Bonus drop icon. Achieving Grade B or higher in that activity awards an event drop, and you can get more bonus drops by playing anything in the Portal (similarly to how Bonus Drops and challenges work).
Just like during Solstice, event weapons drop at a higher Tier, making farming for Tier 5s much easier. There are also holofoil versions of Arcane Embrace, Gunburn, and Hushed Whisper, with a bright green ornament.
