A trip to the arcade might be your idea of a perfect day out, but we've experienced a trip being spoiled after several unsuccessful attempts on the claw machine.
For the most determined, having a go on the claw machine usually turns into feeding so many coins into it that you may as well have just bought your own toy. Fortunately, there are some clever ways to improve your chances on this most infamously tricky of arcade machines without giving it a shake, and it's said to be 'all about timing', reports the Mirror.
In a viral video shared on TikTok, an arcade worker showed their followers their 'double tapping' technique, which they claim will boost your chances of grabbing a toy.

Demonstrating the hack in the video, the arcade employee, who goes by the username @arcadefriends, stated: "Some people don't know the secret about double tapping the claw machine."

They then asked followers to watch their hands as they double tapped the grab button. The first tap was to lower the claw onto the pink teddy bear below, and the second was to close the claw around its head.
Explaining the logic behind this technique, they said: "This gives the claw a strong grip and keeps it from rotating too far." As shown in the instructive vid, they were indeed able to use this helpful trick to lift the stuffed bear up and away, claiming it as a prize. For many watching the clip, it was an unfamiliar sight to behold.
The video has clocked up nearly 380,000 views, with many followers left taking study notes for their next trip to the arcade. In the comments, followers are loving the hack, with one approving person commenting: "BEST TIP! Doesn't guarantee a win, but definitely ups your chances!" and another applauded: "That's perfect timing as well!"
