'Arc Raiders' First-Person Hack Stuns Fans With Surreal Immersion

A creative gamer recently discovered a way to experience "Arc Raiders" from a first-person perspective, posting a three-minute video on Reddit that showcases a more immersive approach to the extraction shooter.

While the perspective introduces minor visual quirks, it offers fans a fresh way to navigate the game's tense environments. This could be one of the best features that gamers can get in the future.

First-Person Immersion Adds New Thrills

Embark Studios' "Arc Raiders" is officially a third-person game. However, Reddit user u/Short_Statisfaction_9 experimented with the game's console commands, typically used for minor tweaks like adjusting brightness or fog, and unlocked a first-person camera mode.

In the video, the perspective transforms the game's atmosphere, making exploration feel "surreal" and "terrifying."

Occasional visual glitches, such as disappearing arms or glimpses of the player character's face, are present but don't affect core gameplay. Despite these minor issues, first-person mode appears to be promising and features a deeper level of immersion in the extraction mechanics.

How the Mode Was Activated and Quickly Patched

The first-person discovery originated from in-game console experimentation, rather than an official feature. Embark Studios responded quickly, releasing a hotfix that prevented others from replicating the first-person view.

At this time, the developer has not indicated whether a first-person toggle will become a standard option.

How the 'Arc Raiders' Community Reacted to First-Person POV

Notebookcheck concluded that the reaction across Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) has been overwhelmingly positive. Fans are calling for an official first-person toggle and even speculating about potential VR support. Some suggest creating separate lobbies to balance competitive play between first- and third-person users.

However, not all players are convinced. Many argue that third-person gameplay preserves the tactical and cinematic design intended by Embark Studios, highlighting that the traditional perspective remains functional and strategically advantageous.
