Embark Studios was offered a lesson today to not look past the fervent dedication of ARC Raiders players, and the devs learned it fast.
This morning, the extraction shooter's first-ever community event began, and it involves players contributing crafting materials to reach a goal of an unknown amount to unlock the first new post-launch map, the sprawling underground research facility Stella Montis.

At 3:35am CT today, Embark posted on the ARC Raiders Discord server about the game's patch and community event going live. Just over an hour later, at 4:48am CT, they followed up with this message:
"You have been progressing the unlock event much faster than we anticipated," Embark community manager Ossen said. "We had no idea all of you would be so altruistic for the Stella Montis cause, and you are donating so much more than we could imagine. We want this event to be experienced by Raiders all over the world and therefore we are raising the bar to unlock Stella Montis expecting you to surprise us again."
Yeah, Embark definitely underestimated the dedication of its players for this new event just two weeks after launch. In it, players must contribute Metal Parts, Fabric, Plastic Parts, Rubber Parts, and Chemicals, all of which are easily procurable thanks to the trusty chicken back at home base. And players had plenty to spare, apparently.
The community progress bar dropped from around 13 percent to one percent, but it's already climbing. At time of me taking the screenshot below, it was already up to three percent, so the grind is continuing for players to donate their materials at a rapid pace.

Whenever the goal is reached, Stella Montis will unlock and add the fifth map in ARC Raiders, which has been off to a torrid start when it comes to player count and reviews. I will be watching and playing intently to see how the game evolves over time, but for now, Embark may know better than to underestimate its players again.
The post ARC Raiders devs already nerfed the game’s first community event because players were too dedicated to the cause appeared first on Destructoid.
