Arc Raiders dev makes good on its threat, will unleash Shredders on multiple maps in Flashpoint update coming next week

Arc Raiders screenshots.

It looks like Arc Raiders developer Embark is making good on its threat to let Shredders loose outside of Stella Montis, according to a teaser for its upcoming Flashpoint update.

We now know that Arc Raiders' big March update, Flashpoint, is set to arrive at some point next week, and the previously released 2026 roadmap had already made it sound like a fun one. As well as a Scrappy update and new player project, it's set to add a fresh map condition and Arc threat. However, it's now not entirely clear if this threat is the escape of the Shredders that Embark is hinting at, or a totally new enemy.

"Someone forgot to close the Stella Montis doors on their way out…" Embark teases in a new post, along with a video where you can hear a Shredder in the distance. "Check your corners, the Flashpoint Update drops next week!"

This has been on the cards for a while now – earlier this year, design lead Virgil Watkins noted in an interview with us here at GamesRadar+ that Shredders were "currently" only found in Stella Montis, which obviously sounded quite a lot like a threat. "I think it is a promise," he added at the time. "They'll figure out how to get out of there eventually."

Well, it looks like they've found it. No further details on the Flashpoint update have been revealed yet, but in today's patch notes for version 1.21.0, it's noted that "the team is hard at work getting the Flashpoint update ready for next week, and we're excited for you to dive into the new content."

Arc Raiders guns totally changed after one "guerilla" dev at Embark said hold my beer, "I think I can do better," and remade the entire reload system "himself."
