Arbikie issues second limited release of its Highland Rye Single Grain whisky

Angus-based Arbikie Distillery has released a second limited batch of its Highland Rye Single Grain Scotch Whisky in time for Burns Night and Chinese new year.

The family firm - which prides itself on distilling spirits made with produce from its own farmland - said the 1220 bottles will be available, priced £250, in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America through distributors and luxury retailers such as Harrods.

The first release of the singe rye sold out last year. This batch has been aged for four years and matured first in charred American oak barrels then enriched in Armagnac barrels.

Arbikie is owned by brothers Iain, John and David Stirling from Inverkeilor, between Arbroath and Montrose.

Director Iain said: “We’re delighted to be helping to drive a ‘Rye Whisky Revival’ by launching our latest limited-edition Highland Rye Whisky, the first and only four-year-old Scottish Rye Whisky in the world.

"As a young business we’re delighted to be restoring an ancient whisky category, Scottish Rye Whisky, with much older distillers like Bruichladdich, Diageo and new ones like Inchdairnie in the process, we believe, of following."
