Arab countries and organizations have welcomed the decisions announced by the Saudi Public Prosecutor in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, stressing their rejection to politicize the case.
The Arab League lauded the Saudi investigation, describing it as evidence on the Kingdom’s huge interest in finding the culprits and taking stiff measures against them.
It hoped in a statement for Turkey to meet Riyadh’s demand for a cooperation mechanism on the case.
Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Abdullatif Al Zayani also lauded the Prosecutor’s findings, saying the results of the investigation confirm that Saudi Arabia is holding onto taking all necessary measures away from politicization.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the United Arab Emirates valued the steps taken by Saudi Arabia towards the case as well as the measures taken to hold accountable those behind the murder.
''The measures taken corroborate the fact that Saudi Arabia will remain a state of values, and justice that respects the principles of law and justice," said the statement.
The ministry reaffirmed that the findings confirm the continued and painstaking follow-up undertaken by the Saudi institutions concerned to ensure the safety of citizens and update the public opinion and the international community on the case's facts.
The UAE reaffirmed its rejection of any attempts to politicize or internationalize the case in a way that threatens the Kingdom's sovereignty and stability.
As for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it said the Saudi announcement “showed the Kingdom’s seriousness and transparency in revealing the truth.”
It hoped that all sides would not politicize the case, and expressed its full confidence in the Saudi investigative authorities.
The Palestinian leadership and the Kingdom of Bahrain issued similar statements.
