The Arab Parliament condemned the Iranian interference in Yemen, through its support for the Houthis and threats to neighboring countries, particularly the continued firing of ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia.
In a statement released on developments in Yemen at the end of the first meeting of the third session in the second parliamentary term, the Arab Parliament asserted the importance of reaching a peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf initiative, outputs of the national dialogue, and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions particularly no. 2216.
The parliament reiterated that the Houthis presented daily new evidence of their unwillingness to engage in any serious efforts to settle the Yemeni crisis peacefully and held them responsible for the continued suffering of the Yemeni people.
The parliament stressed the support of the Yemeni legitimacy and the role played by the Arab Coalition for Restoring legitimacy in Yemen, calling on the Arab institutions to assume their responsibilities in bringing peace and security in Yemen.
The statement also condemned the planting of sea mines, booby-trapped boats and the targeting of oil tankers in the Red Sea by the Houthi militia, saying that such acts fall under terrorism and threaten international peace and security, and global trade movement.
The parliament called on Arab institutions to shoulder their responsibility towards security and peace in Yemen.
