The Saudi-led Arab coalition will help on Monday in the evacuation of several wounded Iran-backed Houthi militants outside of Yemen to receive medical treatment.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that 50 Houthis will be flown from Sanaa airport to the Omani capital, Muscat.

The step is part of trust-building efforts that United Nations special envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths has been exerting ahead of holding the upcoming peace consultations in Sweden.

The evacuation request was filed by Griffiths.

Maliki revealed that a UN plane will land in Sanaa on Monday to evacuate the wounded. They will be accompanied by three Yemeni doctors and one UN doctor.

He stressed the coalition’s keenness on providing all facilitations to back Griffith’s efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

He also underscored the alliance’s provision of assistance in humanitarian cases in a manner that respects humanitarian laws and principles.
