Arab Coalition Says Houthi Terror Attack Targets Saudi Arabia’s Abha Airport

The Saudi-led Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen announced on Wednesday that the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen had carried out a terrorist attack targeting Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that a Houthi projectile struck the facility’s arrival area at 2:21 am, leaving 26 civilians from different nationalities injured.

Eight have been transferred to hospital, while 18 suffered minor wounds. The airport also incurred damage.

Maliki said that the concerned military and security forces were determining the type of rocket that was used in the attack.

The Houthis claimed through their media that they had fired a Cruise missile, he added, which he said was “flagrant acknowledgment of responsibility for an attack against civilian targets in violation of International Humanitarian Law.”

The act is tantamount to a war crime that systematically targets civilians, he stressed.

Moreover, it proves that the Houthis were being supplied with new sophisticated weapons by Iran, which is continuing its cross-border terrorist attacks, Maliki said.

He vowed that the coalition will take “immediate and severe measures to deter this terrorist militia in order to protect civilians and civilian facilities.”

“The responsible terrorists will be held accountable for plotting and carrying out this terrorist attack,” he added.
