Arab Coalition Says Houthi Military Position in Dhamar was Legitimate Target

The Saudi-led Arab coalition stressed on Sunday that the military position it had struck in Yemen’s southern Dhamar region was a legitimate target.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that target was a military position, not a prison, as alleged by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

The strike was aimed at neutralizing the Houthi capabilities, he explained, stressing that precautions were taken to avoid civilian casualties.

Moreover, he said that the militias were still using Hodeidah port to receive weapons, adding that the more advanced arms they have been supplied with proves the presence of Iranian Revolutionary Guards members in Yemen.

Separately, United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash urged on Sunday the legitimate government of Yemen and the Southern Transitional Council to comply with Saudi Arabia’s initiative and hold dialogue to end tensions.

In a series of tweets, he said that dialogue led by Saudi Arabia is the way forward for Yemen.
