The Arab coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen renewed on Monday its rejection of the findings of the report of the Group of Experts to Investigate Human Rights Violations in the war-torn country.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that the legitimate Yemeni government had rejected the report over its lack of transparency and professionalism, as well as its bias towards to the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

He stressed that the government had instead urged support for the National Commission of Inquiry.

He said that the coalition command values the efforts of various United Nations and non-government agencies in Yemen, noting however that their work was being restricted by the Houthis.

He cited in this regard recent media reports that spoke of violations against rights workers in Yemen.

Stricter measures must be adopted to counter the Houthi violations, Maliki demanded.

He stressed that the various violations committed by the militias only compound the suffering of the Yemeni people.
