Arab Coalition: Iran-backed Houthis behind Cowardly Jeddah Terrorist Attack

The Saudi-led Arab coalition announced on Monday that the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen were behind the “cowardly terrorist” attack against an oil facility in Jeddah.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said that the attack “not only targets Saudi Arabia’s national capabilities, but the global economy and its energy supplies and security.”

Monday’s attack on Jeddah “is an extension of the terrorist attacks that have targeted Saudi Aramco’s oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais”, he added.

“The Houthis claimed responsibility for those attacks and evidence has shown the Iranian regime’s involvement,” he stressed, accusing Tehran of supplying the militias with sophisticated weapons, such as cruise missiles and armed drones.

“The deliberate and systematic targeting of civilians and economic facilities violates international law and is tantamount to a war crime,” he declared.

The Joint Forces Command of the Arab coalition is taking the necessary measures to protect civilians and civilian locations, Malki said.

“The terrorists who plotted and carried out these hostile terrorist attacks against civilians will be held accountable in line with international humanitarian law,” he vowed.
