Arab Coalition Intercepts, Destroys 2 Houthi Booby-Trapped Boats off Hodeidah

The Saudi-led Arab coalition intercepted and destroyed two explosive-laden boats that were launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias from Yemen’s Hodeidah province.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said the remote-controlled vessels were launched early on Tuesday in an attempt by the Houthis to carry out a terrorist attack in the Red Sea.

He condemned the Houthis for launching the boats, saying they threatened regional and international security and international marine and trade routes in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and southern Red Sea.

He stressed that the Houthis have been using Hodeidah as a platform to launch ballistic missiles, drones and booby-trapped vessels and planting naval mines in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the December 2018 Stockholm agreement.

Malki revealed that 153 explosive-laden vessels and 46 naval mines have so far been destroyed by the coalition.

He vowed that the joint coalition command will continue to implement firm and deterrent measures against the Houthis in order to neutralize and destroy their threat.
