Swimmers for the Japanese artistic swimming team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics strike a powerful pose during their training session in Kita Ward, Tokyo, on Thursday. Seen on the wall behind them are kakizome -- the first calligraphy writings of the New Year -- written by the swimmers and others. Kanji characters such as "sho" (win), "ki" (spirit), "kokorozashi" (aspiration) and "yaku" (dynamism, leap) are among those written on the sheets of paper, reflecting the swimmers enthusiasm for the sports extravaganza this year.
