Schaffhausen, Switzerland-based Aptiv PLC (APTV) designs, manufactures, and sells vehicle components. Valued at $14.1 billion by market cap, the company help automotive OEMs to create vehicles with advanced safety features, electrified architectures, and intelligent connectivity.
Shares of this leading global technology company have underperformed the broader market over the past year. APTV has declined 6.3% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has rallied nearly 21.5%. Meanwhile, in 2025, APTV stock is up 7.1%, in line with SPX’s gains on a YTD basis.
Narrowing the focus, APTV’s underperformance is also apparent compared to the Global X Autonomous & Electric Vehicles ETF (DRIV). The exchange-traded fund has gained about 16.7% over the past year. However, APTV’s gains on a YTD basis outshine the ETF’s 5.2% returns over the same time frame.
On Jul. 31, APTV shares closed up by 2.9% after reporting its Q2 results. Its adjusted EPS came in at $2.12, up 34.2% year over year. The company’s revenue stood at $5.2 billion, up 3.1% from the year-ago quarter.
For the current fiscal year, ending in December, analysts expect APTV’s EPS to grow 19% to $7.45 on a diluted basis. The company’s earnings surprise history is impressive. It beat the consensus estimate in each of the last four quarters.
Among the 20 analysts covering APTV stock, the consensus is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on 12 “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” six “Holds,” and one “Strong Sell.”
This configuration is less bullish than two months ago, with 13 analysts suggesting a “Strong Buy.”
On Aug. 4, Oppenheimer Holdings Inc. (OPY) analyst Colin Rusch kept an “Outperform” rating on APTV and raised the price target to $88, implying a potential upside of 35.8% from current levels.
The mean price target of $81.33 represents a 25.5% premium to APTV’s current price levels. The Street-high price target of $95 suggests an ambitious upside potential of 46.7%.
