The father of Apprentice star Scarlett Allen Horton's children was jailed for his role in a £1.6million drug smuggling plot.
Scarlett, 32, was left to raise her two daughters alone when her partner Clayton Stephenson was sent to prison in 2013.
Stephenson, from Ward End, Birmingham, was sentenced to six years and eight months for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, plus a further eight months to run consecutively for dangerous driving, reported the Birmingham Mail at the time.
Then in 2016, Stephenson was handed an additional eight years for helping to organise a multi-million cocaine and heroin deal from behind bars.
A source close to Scarlett told The Sun : "She has had a really tough time being a single mum after her partner was banged up.
"But she has worked herself into the ground."
Scarlett, who owns a successful recruitment company in the West Midlands, is one of the hopefuls appearing on the 15th series of The Apprentice.
In her initial interview for the show, Scarlett said she considers herself to be a 'very good problem solver' adding, "I am an achiever. I have been the highest performer across every workplace I have worked within."
Scarlett remained true to her word as she led the girls team to victory on the first episode of the show.
The two groups were challenged with setting up a tourist operator in Cape Town, South Africa with the girls team picking up the most money.
