Applications for companies and universities to administer COVID-19 vaccinations on their premises started to be accepted online on Tuesday. The central government plans to allow these inoculations to begin before the scheduled June 21 start date if companies and universities are ready.
The application process involves filling out a form on a dedicated website. Prefectural governments will then check the impact on inoculations being carried out by municipal governments, and if there is no problem, the central government will deliver vaccine and special freezers to inoculation venues.
The vaccine produced by Moderna, Inc. will be used.

As of Monday, 240 companies had expressed a desire to carry out workplace inoculations.
"We will work with local governments and do our utmost," Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said at a regular press conference on Monday.
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has set a target of administering 1 million doses of vaccine per day. A senior government official said, "Reaching the target of 1 million doses is only a matter of time."
