Application to create extension at popular Cropwell Bishop pub

A Nottinghamshire pub has submitted a planning application for a new external timber lean. The proposal was submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council by Star Pubs and Bars requesting to extend the Chequers Inn Pub in Church Street, Cropwell Bishop.

The applicant is requesting to build the lean with timber posts, a black felt roof and a lockable gate which will be constructed from timber fencing. This timber lean will be built in the current compound area alongside the pub's kitchen and opposite to the cellar.

The pub hopes that the timber lean will create a private space that staff can use for external storage. The design will ensure that the contents of the compound are hidden from the public, and will not be an eyesore to people passing by.

If the application is approved, the timber lean will allow the pub to use an area of the site it is not currently using, but also will allow the pub to offer a more extensive range of facilities as storage space would be maximised. Additionally, through having a lockable gate, it can act as an additional security measure for the pub and help reduce the risk of theft.
