Apple will finally launch its credit card in August - and will pay you to use it

It was revealed to the world back in March, and now Apple is finally revving up to launch its credit card, the Apple Card.

The card is both a digital card, stored in your iPhone’s Apple Wallet, and physical card made of titanium.

Speaking during Apple’s 2019 third fiscal quarter earnings call, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the card will roll out next month.

He said: “Thousands of Apple employees are using the Apple Card every day in a beta test and we will begin to roll out the Apple Card in August.”

The card is financially backed by Goldman Sachs and Mastercard, so it can be used anywhere in the world.

Like Monzo and Revolut, the Apple Card provides a breakdown of how much you spend each month on shopping, food and drink and entertainment.

Users can track what they're spending day-over-day, or month-over-month, and interest is calculated in real time, to help customers make informed choices.

Apple is also offering rewards for using the card in the form of "daily cash”.

Users will get 1% cash back on anything they purchase using the physical card, 2% on anything they buy using Apple Pay on their iPhone, and 3% on anything they buy from an Apple Store.

This daily cash will be credited to their account and they will be able to spend it, send it to a friend in Messages, or use it however they like.

Apple claims that privacy and security is integrated throughout the hardware and software.

Every purchase is authorised with Face ID or Touch ID and a one-time unique dynamic security code, preventing the card being used without your permission.

Unfortunately, the Apple Card is only launching in the US for now - but watch this space!
