Apple Watch 6 and iPad Air 4 could be unveiled today - here's what to expect

The moment that Apple fans have been waiting for could finally be here, with rumours of two hardware launches this afternoon.

New rumours indicate that the tech giant could unveil the Apple Watch 6 and the iPad Air 4 today.

The rumour comes from LeaksApplePro, which claims the new devices will be announced at 16:00 BST (11:00 EST) today.

Meanwhile, Jon Prosser, a respected leaker, also claims that Apple will unveil products today, but at a slightly earlier time of 14:00 BST.

He tweeted: “Apple press release is currently scheduled for Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00am EST — though, I should note that it’s not locked in until the press has been briefed, day of.”

Mr Prosser added that he will tweet today if the launch time is likely to change.

Meanwhile, one eagle-eyed Apple fan noticed that the Apple Watch Series 5 has been removed from the Apple UK homepage, further hinting that a new smartwatch could be unveiled today.

While many Apple fans will have their hopes raised about a possible iPhone launch today, unfortunately this is unlikely.

Apple has previously confirmed that the new iPhone will be delayed compared to previous years.

Mr Prosser also claims that the iPhone 12 event is set for the week of October 12, so you’ll have to hold on for a few weeks yet!

The rumours come shortly after a report by Bloomberg claimed that Apple is preparing to release four new iPhone models, as well as two Apple Watches and an iPad Air.

The report cites ‘people who asked not to be identified’, and claims that the big unveiling could be this October.

Bloomberg writes: “Among a comprehensive product refresh in the fall, Apple is also preparing a new iPad Air with an edge-to-edge iPad Pro-like screen, two new Apple Watch versions and its first over-ear headphones outside the Beats brand. A smaller HomePod speaker is in the works, too.”

According to the report, Apple has been preparing components for as many as 75 million new iPhones.
