Apple store goes down as 'new MacBook Pro' announcement nears

The Apple store is down as the technology giant prepares for a major product launch.

Apple will launch an 'Unleashed' event at 6pm UK time via a stream and many expect a slew of new product launches including a possible replacement for the Apple MacBook Pro.

There is speculation that the upcoming event titled “Unleashed” will focus on MacBook changes, as the company hasn’t updated its 16-inch MacBook since 2019. However, other products such as a Mac Mini and new Apple Air Pods could also be included in the secretive announcement.

The biggest clue that Apple is about to launch new products is that Apple's store has temporarily gone down, with a holding message advising customers that 'updates are coming' and asking them to check back soon. The message is similar to those displayed when Apple launches new products such as the Apple iPhone 13 last month.

The announcement comes despite rumours of a global chip shortage that could mean lower supply of Apple products. There have been reports that the company may have to slash production of iPhone 13.

Apple may address the chip shortage as part of the announcement.

You can watch the event live online at apple.com or on the Apple TV app. It is also currently scheduled to go live on the company’s YouTube channel.
