Apple's next iOS update will make your iPhone battery last much longer

It’s an issue that plagues most iPhone users, but the days of carrying a charger with you could soon be a thing of the past.

Apple ’s next iOS update has a new feature that will make your iPhone battery last longer.

The tech giant has previously admitted that its iPhone batteries degrade over time, and only hold around 80% as much after two years.

While most of us charge our phones overnight, charging your iPhone to 100% and then leaving it can be detrimental to battery life.

This is where the new iOS 13 update comes in. The update contains a new feature called ‘Optimised Battery Charging’, which pretty much does what it says on the tin.

Apple explained: “A new option helps slow the rate of battery ageing by reducing the time your iPhone spends fully charged.

“iPhone uses on-device machine learning to understand your daily charging routine so it can wait to finish charging beyond 80 per cent until you need to use it.”

Essentially, your iPhone will learn your charging habits, and adjust how it charges accordingly.

For example, if you charge your iPhone overnight and wake up at 8am, your iPhone will learn this, and only reach 100% charge at that time.

Other key features in the iOS 13 update include a new Dark Mode and new Memoji customisations, including new hairstyle and makeup.

iOS 13 will launch this autumn.
