Apple's new iPhones are significantly more expensive in the UK - and Brits are furious

Today, Apple has revealed its new iPhones for 2019 - the iPhone 11 , iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The iPhones were unveiled at Apple’s annual event in Cupertino, California, where executives including Tim Cook revealed the prices in US dollars.

Following the event, British fans have been shocked to discover that the pricing is significantly more expensive in the UK than it is in the US.

While the iPhone 11 will retail at $699 in the US - the equivalent of £566 - the smartphone will cost £729 in the UK.

The higher end devices, the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will retail at $999 and $1,099 respectively in the US, but at £1,049 and £1,149 in the UK.

For comparison, $999 is the equivalent of £809, while $1,099 is the equivalent of £890.

Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Series 5, which was also revealed at the event, follows Apple's tradition pound-for-dollar pricing, costing $399 in the US and £399 in the UK.

The iPhone 11 Pro has arrived

Unsurprisingly, British Apple fans are furious at the news.

One user tweeted: “The UK price for the iPhone 11 Pro starts at £1049! The 11 at £729. Great exchange rate there.”

Another added: “The US price for the base model of the latest iPhone has gone up by 7.5%, the UK price has gone up *35%*. Do people see the problem here? How things have changed in just 4 years?”
