It’s been one of the most highly requested features for iPhone, and now Apple has revealed that a Dark Mode is finally coming to its smartphones.
The Dark Mode will be released in the iOS 13 update and will give apps a dark colour scheme, making it easier on the eyes at night.
Apple explained: “Dark Mode introduces a dramatic new look for iPhone.
“It’s thoughtfully designed to make every element on the screen easier on your eyes and is seamlessly integrated throughout the system.”
Dark Mode can be turned on manually, thanks to a new button in the Control Centre.
Alternatively, you can schedule Dark Mode to turn on and off at certain times.
Apple explained: “Have Dark Mode turn on and off at a certain time or based on sunrise and sunset, which is great when you’re outside at night or using your iPhone before you go to bed.”
Thankfully, the Dark Mode is integrated throughout iOS, meaning it will work both within your main home screen, and within apps.
Alongside Dark Mode, Apple is also adding a range of new wallpapers.
It added: “New wallpapers optimised for Dark Mode automatically change as you switch between light and dark.”
iOS 13 will launch this autumn.
