Apple’s Beats launches glow-in-the-dark version of its PowerBeats earphones

Apple’s Beats have launched their first ever glow-in-the-dark products, in the form of new PowerBeats.

The earphones cost £170 – far more than the non-luminous version of the same product.

They are created in collaboration with Ambush, a design label that has its name printed on the side of the earbuds.

The PowerBeats are wireless earphones that connect to each other with a strap that goes around the back of the head. They include a range of features including water resistance, a 15-hour battery life and Apple’s H1 chip, which means they can easily pair and then switch between different iOS or Mac devices.

Aside from the different design, the earphones are identical to the existing Apple earphones.

While the glow-in-the-dark look was explained by Ambush’s founder Yoon Ahn as being inspired by the way that her home city of Tokyo comes alive at night, they could presumably prove useful to runners or anyone else who might want to appear more visible in the darkness.

The earphones are available now through Apple and Ambush directly, as well as Selfridges or End Clothing.

They cost £170, compared with £130 for the non-glowing version. The extra price puts them more in the range of the PowerBeats Pro truly wireless earphones, which cost £179.
