Apple News+: Firm launches updated News service with access to 300 magazines

Apple has launched a new News service, dubbed Apple News+.

Speaking at the launch event in Cupertino, Tim Cook, Apple CEO, said: "This will take Apple News to a whole new level."

The new service will provide access to 300 magazines, spanning across health, lifestyle, news and more.

Like the original Apple News app, the new app features Top Stories, Trending Stories and Personalised Recommendations. But with Apple News+ you also get access to the latest magazines.

The app features live covers, bringing the front pages of the magazines to life.

When you tap on a live cover, you'll be taken to a digital contents page, which you can tap on to explore the magazine.

These magazines will sit in the News+ tab, where you can browse through magazines, based on category and interests.

Apple News+ will cost $9.99/month. Users will also have access to Family Sharing at no extra charge, giving access to family members for free.

The new service is available today in the US and Canada, with the first month free. It will launch in Australia and the UK in autumn 2019.
