Apple MacBook Air price drop as new 15-inch version is announced

The 13-inch Apple MacBook Air is now £100 cheaper than before after the tech giant unveiled a new larger, 15-inch version at its developer conference.

The Apple WWDC, a developer conference event, saw the launch of the new iOS 17 software update and a brand new Apple VR headset set to launch in 2024 among other updates from the brand. Apple also confirmed a new MacBook Air with a 15.3-inch display will be the biggest model in the Air range.

As a result the US company has cut the price of the 13-inch version by £100. It said: "The 13-inch MacBook Air with M2, available in midnight, starlight, silver, and space gray, now starts at £1,149.”

The new price is £100 cheaper than its launch price of £1,249 and is the cheapest ever price for the MacBook Air model. It can be found on Apple and on retailers including Currys, which is showing the cheaper price for the 2022 MacBook Air.

The new 15-inch MacBook Air will be the most expensive in the range when it arrives in the UK. Available in a number of colours, it will cost $1,299 in the US and is available to order now from Apple.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the first 15-inch MacBook Air. With its incredible performance and striking design, the new MacBook Air is the world’s best 15-inch laptop. And it’s only possible with Apple silicon,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “From its expansive Liquid Retina display and remarkably thin and fanless design, to extraordinary battery life and an immersive six-speaker sound system, the new MacBook Air has it all.”

Featuring a bigger display and brighter lighting, it also has a 1080p webcam, MagSafe charging, two USB-C ports and 18-hours battery life.
