Apple introduces new emoji including a drunken face as part of its new iOS update

Apple has introduced a range of new emojis including a drunken face and people with ginger hair as part of its iOS 12.1 update

Around 157 emojis are available on the new update from various skin shades to curly hair and the UN flag.

In keeping with the times, Apple has also updated its phone emoji from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone X.

The emojis were previewed on World Emoji Day on July 17.

Apple previously said: “Emoji are used by people all over the world to communicate. iOS 12.1 brings even more characters to the keyboard that better represent global users, including new emoji for moon cake, red gift envelope and nazar amulet.”

The emoji keyboard has long been recognised as the world’s fastest growing language. In a survey by TalkTalk Mobile, 72 percent of 18-25 year-olds said they found it easier to put their feelings across in emoji icons than in text.

Sixty million emojis are shared on Facebook each day.

According to Emoji tracker, the least used emoji is an input symbol for latin letters. It hasn’t been used for over 100 days.

While the crying laughing face is the most used.
