Apple, Harrods and Nando's jobs up for grabs at the Metrocentre right now

From Apple to Boots to Hays Travel, a number of businesses in the UK's second largest shopping centre are currently looking for staff to fill their vacancies.

Managerial roles, shop assistants, and waiting on positions are all up for grabs at the Metrocentre. However, it's not just jobs in hospitality and retail on offer, with the centre also hiring for a full time security officer and the Metrocentre Community Hub able to help with training courses.

With both full-time and part-time positions available, many of the jobs would be ideal for students returning home for the summer, school leavers, and those looking for a career change. Here are some of the best job vacancies on offer in the Metrocentre, all of which you can find more information about on the jobs website.

Apple

Want to work with some of the most popular tech products out there such as the iPhone and the Mac? Apple is searching for a part time UK specialist to work at least 16 hours a week in its store in the red mall.

Nando's

Want to know the secret to Nando's peri-peri sauce? There are two positions at the popular chicken restaurant's spot in the blue mall (there's another in the X mall).

Both roles are full time, with one a traineeship as a griller, chef, kitchen assistant and back of house team member. The other is food server, food prep and coordinator. Perks include a free meal on shift and discount for you and your friends.

Next Beauty at Home

Next Beauty at Home is another Metrocentre business hiring for two positions right now. They're looking for a counter manager at Urban Decay and a solo account manager at Lancôme - both of which are 30 hour part time contracts.

Boots

For those who work in beauty, there are a couple of opportunities at Boots too. The first is a 22.5 hour per week position on the NYX Professional Make-Up counter, while the second is a full time account manager (37.5 hours) at Lancôme.

Beaverbrooks

There's no shortage of roles in jewellery shops at the MetroCentre right now - with Beaverbrooks hiring for three roles - sales consultants on both full time and part time contracts, and a part time cleaning role. The company has won a slew of awards for its workplace experience, including being named the best big company and best retail firm to work for in the UK in 2021.

Ernest Jones

Another jeweller hiring for its flagship store is Ernest Jones, who are looking for a new full-time assistant manager. You'll need interest in the jewellery industry and retail management experience as you'll be in charge when the store manager isn't around!

H. Samuel

H. Samuel is also looking for a full-time assistant manager, who once again will be in charge when the store manager isn't around. One of the perks is a business casual dress code, which has been put in place to showcase its team's unique personalities.

Swarovski

The final jeweller position, Swarovski is hiring for a part time sales consultant to work 24 hours a week. For this job, you'll need an excellent sense of fashion and previous retail experience.

Superdrug

Superdrug is looking for two weekend sales advisors on eight hour contracts.

Harrods H beauty

Harrods H Beauty is looking to take on both full time and part time sales associates including a Kiehl's customer representative ahead of its opening, the date of which remains unconfirmed. What is set in stone is that it will be in the centre's former House of Fraser store.

Hays Travel

Sunderland independent travel agent Hays Travel is offering an apprenticeship for those hoping to become travel consultants. Successful applicants will be provided with ongoing training and support as they adapt to working in a fast paced sales environment and gain travel product knowledge.

Tessuti

Fashion retailer Tessuti is looking for an assistant manager to work a full time 40 hour per week contract. Two to five years' experience in a similar role is expected.

Yankee Candle

There are two positions on offer at arguably the best smelling shop in the Metrocentre. Yankee Candle is searching for two part time roles, one sales assistant and a key holder. The latter requires previous experience of working in retail.

Petit Delice

The French-inspired café has one of the most charming settings in the shopping centre, with a waterwheel on its 'outdoor' seating. It's hiring for a kitchen chef to work up to 30 hours, preparing foods such as breakfasts, jacket potatoes, baguettes paninis and toasties; and a part-time coffee shop assistant.

Fridays

Fridays (Formally TGI Fridays) is searching for a part time store manager trainee, with a starting salary of £10 an hour. There's no need for previous experience as successful applicants will be given a full programme of onboarding and training to develop their skills.

Wilko

Wilko is looking for a part-time customer service assistant to work 12 hours a week at its store in the blue mall.

Quiz

Fashion retailer Quiz is hiring for a four hour per week contract. They're looking for someone with a passion for fashion and who can provide excellent customer service.

Moss Bros.

Suit shop Moss Bros. is looking for a seasonal style associate on a full time contact (39 hours). It's a three month contract and there are perks such as commission pay benefits, a gym membership and store discounts.

Big Luke's

Big Luke's World Buffet was the first 'all you can eat' buffet in the North East and has been going for more than 30 years. It's hiring for three positions - waiting staff at 16 hours a week, a kitchen porter on 20 hours a week, and a pizza chef for 25.

Rituals

Beauty retailer Rituals is looking for a part time customer sales advisor to join the team on a permanent basis. Retail experience and an interest in beauty is an advantage but not essential.

Metrocentre

Citing a can-do attitude as essential to the role, the Metrocentre is offering a full-time security guard position at 40 hours per week with paid breaks. Perks include counter-terrorism training, free uniform and free on-site parking, while applicants are expected to be first aid qualified or willing to work towards qualification and to have an SIA Door Supervision or Guarding Licence.

Metrocentre is also looking to hire a full time customer service assistant to work at the customer service desk.

Victoria's Secret

Victoria's Secret at intu Metrocentre (Newcastle Chronicle)

Victoria's Secret is hiring a part time seasonal sales associate to work between 12 and 16 hours a week. Two - five years of retail experience is specified for the role.

The Body Shop

The Body Shop is looking for a part time customer consultant to work 16 hours a week. No experience is necessary and it's an immediate start date, though it's only a temporary vacancy.

Cookery Nook

Cookery Nook is looking for a shop assistant and floor waitress to work 26 hours across various weekdays. Training will be provided and workwear supplied.

Metrocentre Community Hub

The Metrocentre Community Hub has two adverts on the site - one is to join the Kalma Life team where you can join an accredited yoga training brand and set your own hours. The other is the Jumpstart training course delivered by Gateshead College and aiming to get you a job in hospitality or retail.
