Apple event: How to stream live and what time new Macs will be revealed

Photograph: Apple

While Apple hasn’t revealed the details of the event, it is widely expected that it will show off the first computers that will use chips of its own design.

But it is still not clear what exactly those computers will look like: whether the new internals will be inside an existing form factor, or something new.

It’s also not clear whether those chips will deliver on Apple’s promises about their performance. When the company first revealed that its would be designing its own chips, it promised improved speed and battery life, but the full detail of those upgrades will finally be shown off during the event.

As well as the new Macs, the company is likely to announce a release date for MacOS Big Sur. It may also use the opportunity to introduce other products, too.

Here’s everything you need to know about watching from home.

What time does the event start?

At 10am local pacific time in California. (The event will be hosted from the Apple Park campus – likely not filmed live, but the same kind of slick presentation as its other recent events.)

That’s 6pm in the UK, 1pm eastern time, or 3am in Kyoto.

How can I stream it live from home?

The main place to go is Apple’s events page, which hosts not only the live stream but also past events, should you want to catch up. You can find that page here.

You can also watch it on YouTube, which has the advantage of being more accessible on many platforms and the option to set up a notification to remind you to watch along. You can find that video – which is already live – here, or below:
