Apple apps crashing on iPhones for confused users - and Facebook is to blame

UPDATE: Facebook has now confirmed that the issue with its software developer kit have now been resolved, and iOS apps are no longer crashing.

Apple users experienced issues this morning with many reporting apps crashing on their devices.

Facebook has now confirmed that it was behind the outage, due to an issue with its iOS Software Developer Kit (SDK).

Mirror Online has contacted Apple for comment.

One user tweeted: "Most of my apps are crashing, the hell is going on Apple."

Another added: "Apple hello! Why apps didn’t work on iPhone ? All crashing."

And one wrote: "Anyone else having an issue with games on their iPhone this morning? Most of mine crash upon opening (yes, software and apps are up to date)."

Spotify also experienced issues this morning, leading many to think the app issue was linked to that.

However, many discovered multiple apps crashing, including Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, Tinder and Bumble.

While many of the apps crashing are not owned by Facebook, the tech giant has confirmed that it was behind the issues.

Speaking to Mirror Online, a Facebook spokesperson said: "We’re aware that some applications are currently affected by an issue in our Facebook iOS SDK.

"We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
