NSW has reported no recent cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 for the tenth consecutive day.

One case in a returned overseas traveller in hotel quarantine was diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday night, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 4,046.

There were 4,789 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 8,305 in the previous 24 hours.

Testing numbers have dropped recently, which is concerns health officials.

NSW Health is appealing to the community to come forward for testing right away if you have even the mildest of symptoms like a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, fever or other symptoms that could be COVID-19.

"If people don't come forward and get tested, we can't keep the pandemic at bay," a NSW Health spokeswoman said.

"This is particularly important with school holidays and increased movement of people around the state."

NSW Health is treating 52 COVID-19 cases, including three in intensive care, none of whom are being ventilated.

Seventy-nine per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care.
