Appeal to help find dog missing from Drumcondra for one year

The people of Dublin are being urged to keep an eye out for a beloved chihuahua that went missing this time last year.

Aki went missing in the Drumcondra area on June 28 2021 and since then Lisa O'Connor (a friend of the owner) has been trying to get him back home safe. There have been multiple sightings but Lisa has stressed that gardai need photos to verify if it the much-loved pooch.

Aki's owner, Armando Boduljak, let him out for a toilet break that night before bed on the night he went missing. The three-year-old blue, merle chihuahua ran towards the corner of Fagan's Pub in Drumcondra and Armando saw a man near the dog.

Before he had caught up to the pub, the pair had disappeared. There is a €6,000 reward for Aki's safe return with the campaign group insisting that are not giving up.

Lisa said: "We were pushing on social media up to the one year anniversary. I thought I might have heard something. I have gotten a few messages over the past few weeks of dogs like Aki being seen around Santry, Swords and Tallaght but nothing solid.

"If anyone contacts me it's important that they get a photograph so Armando could say yes it's Aki and the guards can act on it. I really want to get out there that if you see a similar dog and can take a photograph and send it to me, that would be really helpful.

"Armando is in bits. He's just exhausted. He's heartbroken. He's kind of a shell of his former self.

"He misses his best pal. I won't give up. We have a lot of people behind us and they wont' give up either."

Armando previously told Dublin Live about the abuse he received while desperately searching for his four-legged family member. He said: "I got a phone call from a private number saying the dog was in Ashtown."

"I asked for a location and would come and give them a reward and they replied, 'your dog is dead'. I said it doesn't matter if he's dead, I just wanted an address to come and collect him, dead or alive.

"It doesn't matter, at least I'd know. Then the guy just hung up the phone so I think Aki is alive for sure."
