A nervous young dog has been missing overnight in Highland Perthshire after being startled during an outing to the Blair Castle International Horse Trials.
On Thursday afternoon, day two of the giant horse trials event at Blair Atholl, the six-month-old dapple dachshund puppy was with his owners, standing next to the cross county section, when he slipped his harness.
A search was begun in earnest but this was difficult because the pup was believed to have fled into open ground.
When the animal had still not been found by nightfall, volunteers helping Missing Pets Perth and Kinross Facebook page went to the showground to search using a thermal scope.
The estate staff at Blair Atholl have been extremely helpful and supportive in the search, but so far there has been no sign of the dachshund.
Pet finder Katie McCandless-Thomas of the Missing Pets page said: "The owners are keeping the dog's name private for now. He is chipped but not wearing a collar as he wriggled out of his body harness.
"He is a nervous little pup, so while there is a large footfall to the area the amount of people and new sights and sounds will be overwhelming for him so that’s why if seen, it’s best if people don’t shout on him or attempt to chase him as it could scare him further.
"We believe he is very unlikely to approach strangers."
Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to call 07432 368 792 immediately.
