Appeal to find owners of tiny kitten rescued from car engine in Bristol

An appeal has been launched to find the owners of a tiny kitten rescued from a car engine in Bristol.

The small puss, nicknamed Lucky after its ordeal, was found stuck in the engine of a car at Sainsbury's car park in Winterstoke Road, Ashton, earlier this month.

Fire crews from Bedminster freed the terrified moggy using a small gear tool before handing it over to Bristol Animal Rescue Centre.

Luckily the kitten was uninjured.

Now staff at the rescue centre are looking to identify the owner of the adventurous cat who it is thought may have sneaked into the engine as it was warm.

Bristol Animal Rescue Centre spokeswoman Jenny Crowell said: “Our staff team have nicknamed this little one ‘Lucky’ for now.

“Quite understandably this gorgeous little kitten was pretty scared when they first came into our care, as it had been through quite an ordeal.

“We are pleased to say it is really coming out of its shell, and has now become very cheeky and playful.

“Fortunately, this little monkey had no injuries when they came to us, however, Lucky was very vulnerable due to being so young, out in the cold and having possibly been on its own for a little while.

“Having been under the watchful eyes and loving care of our veterinary team in our special care unit, Lucky is heading off to a special foster home.”

Lucky arrived at the centre on November 12.

Rescuers wait for 14 days to see if the owners come forward before looking for a new home.

Jenny added: “Should no owner come forward, we’ll then start the search for the pawfect new home, although this little one is too young as yet.

“For this reason, we are unable to take any adoption forms or enquires at this time”
