Boy found in Sydney creek identified

NSW police have identified a non-verbal boy found in a creek in northwest Sydney. (AAP)

A 13-year-old non-verbal boy who was found barefoot and waist deep in a Sydney creek has been identified.

Police made a public appeal for help after the boy was found by a member of the public in a creek at Pearce Reserve at Kings Langley in Sydney's northwest on Thursday morning.

A member of the public rescued the boy and contacted emergency services.

The boy was taken to the Children's Hospital at Westmead for observation but police had no clue who he was.

Police thanked the public after the boy was identified.
