Appeal launched to find missing pet pooch

A heartbroken Tarbolton family has issued an urgent appeal to help find their beloved pet dog Milly.

Milly is a 12 year-old Jack Russell Terrier and she went missing near Enterkine House at around 4pm on Saturday, June 13.

Now a campaign has been put in place, spearheaded by owner Caroline Murdoch, to try to get Milly back safe and home with her family.

She told The Post: “She’s been missing since June 13 and we have searched all the obvious places.

“We walk her regularly along the River Ayr Walk, right up to Mauchline, Sorn and Failford.

“And on the day she went missing we walked from the village in Tarbolton to Stair and back home, then my husband took her out in the car to Stair Bridge.

“It’s been quite exhausting for us, especially with the COVID lockdown, so this has been a real strain on the family.

“She’s part of the family.”

There have been sightings of a Jack Russell at an area near the SSPCA centre in Ayr and also Thornyflat Road in Ayr, near a bus stop without a shelter.

However, these sightings have not been confirmed as Milly.

The family, including Caroline’s husband Jim and children Alex and Marion, are asking if people could be vigilant around their local areas, especially in the Whitletts and surrounding area.

If sighted, it’s very important not to shout or approach her as this will set back the capture of Milly.

Caroline added: “Milly has a black ring around her tail and when we are out walking, a lot of people think she’s a pup, but she is a 12 year-old.”

Readers are asked to check their back garden hedges, sheds and other outbuildings in case Milly is in there.

Domestic and commercial CCTV could also play a big part in tracking down missing Milly.

If you think you can help then call one of the following numbers only as soon as possible: 07759 727 022, 07961 670 667 or 07718 304 483.

If possible, people who think they have spotted Milly are being urged to take pictures.
