Appeal launched for missing Larkhall man

An appeal has been launched to trace a 48-year-old man missing from Wishaw General Hospital.

Alexander Ferguson, known as Chick, left the hospital at 3:48am on Monday and intended to go back to his home in Larkhall. He failed to return and his family subsequently reported him missing that afternoon.

Alexander is a white male, around 6ft tall, slim build, with short greying hair. He was wearing a blue Adidas t-shirt with a long sleeved grey zip jumper on top, grey Puma jogging bottoms and green Adidas Gazelle trainers.

He was last seen at the BP service station in Main Street, Overtown, carrying a five-foot white pole. It is thought he was making his way back to Larkhall from Wishaw General Hospital on foot.

Concern is growing for Alexander as this behaviour is "out of character". Officers are continuing to review CCTV and carry out extensive enquiries in the local area in an effort to find him.

Anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact Larkhall Police Office via 101, quoting incident number 1714 of 05/08/2019
