Appeal for witnesses after petrol station is robbed by a man claiming to have a knife

A Stockport petrol station was robbed by a man claiming to have a knife.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man entered the Esso Garage on Wellington Road South, told staff he had a knife and demanded that they open the till.

He then forced his way behind the counter and stole a quantity of cash before fleeing on foot.

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident, which happened at around 9.30pm on Saturday, September 7.

Detective Constable Shona Mulvey of GMP’s Stockport District said: “Thankfully no-one was injured in this incident, but the shop worker has been left understandably shaken.
