Appeal for witnesses after passenger sustains serious head injury in Lanarkshire van crash

A man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after a crash on Sunday morning in North Lanarkshire.

Road Policing officers are seeking witnesses to the incident which happened at around 9.20am on December 4 in Newmains, Wishaw.

A white Ford Transit van collided with an unoccupied blue Ford Transit flatbed van on Alcath Road near to Bonkle Road.

Emergency services attended, and a 46-year-old man, the passenger, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of a serious head injury.

His condition is described as stable - the driver was uninjured.

The road was closed while crash investigations were carried out and re-opened around 12.30pm.

Sgt. Craig McDonald Lanarkshire Live: “We’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time to get in touch.

“I would also ask if there are any other motorists with possible dash-cam footage or anyone with information that may help with our investigation to contact police.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.
