Appeal for witnesses after man seriously assaulted in Blantyre on Hogmanay

Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for information after a 41-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Blantyre on Hogmanay.

Around 8.30pm on December 31 the man was walking along Logan Street when he was approached by another man and attacked with a sharp implement.

The 41-year-old man was treated in hospital for his injuries.

Detective Constable Anthony Cunningham, Cambuslang CID, said: "This was a violent attack and officers are currently working to obtain a description of the suspect.

"We appealing for anyone who may have been in the area that night to come forward with any information.

"It was early on in the evening and many people would have been out and about heading to celebrate the New Year. Think back, did you see anyone in the area?"

Anyone with any information should contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 1908 of Thursday 2 January 2020.
