Appeal for witnesses after man is seriously assaulted

Police in Ayr are appealing for witnesses following an assault in the town.

The incident happened around 10.10pm on Saturday, 16 November, in the Dalblair Road area.

A 46-year-old man was standing outside a bar when he was assaulted.

As a result he sustained serious injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

Officers are seeking help from anyone who may have seen the attack and the man responsible.

The suspect is described as white, stocky build, balding and aged in his 40s.

He was wearing a Puffa style light coloured jacket with dark sleeves, skinny jeans and light coloured trainers with a black design. He was also carrying a beanie hat.

Detective Constable Janet Ferguson said: “This was an unprovoked attack. At that time of night there would have been a lot of people around and we are appealing to anyone who saw something to get in touch.

“If anyone was driving in the area and have dash-cam footage then we would ask them to contact us as well.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4205 of 16 November, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
