Appeal for witnesses after man assaulted onboard train at Singer station

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted onboard a train at Singer station this evening.

The incident occurred around 7:45pm at the station, which serves Clydebank town centre on the Argyle Line connecting Lanark, Larkhall and Motherwell to West Dunbartonshire via central Glasgow.

The victim received a minor injury to the head.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: “At 7.48pm on Saturday, February 22, BTP were called to Singer station following a report of an altercation on board a train.

“Officers attended the station alongside paramedics, where a male was found to have a minor injury to the head.

"BTP officers are investigating the circumstances leading to the assault and any witnesses should call 0800 40 50 40 referencing log 502 of 22 February".

Meanwhile, a major gas leak has also occurred at the station, with trains currently diverted via Yoker for safety reasons as gas engineers carry out emergency repairs.
