Appeal for witnesses after man, aged 43, suffers serious facial injuries in attack

A 43-year-old man has suffered serious facial injuries after being seriously assaulted in Paisley.

The attack happened yesterday around 5pm and detectives are continuing their enquiries.

The man was sitting with a friend in a grassy area near to railway arches between Whitesbridge Avenue and Ferguslie Park Avenue. 

They were approached by a group of youths consisting of four males and one female.

The group started shouting remarks at the two men, then one of the youths assaulted the 43-year-old.

The group then made off in the direction of Ferguslie Park.

The injured man was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in the town for facial injuries before being released.

Detective Constable Martyn Renfrew, of Paisley Police Office, said:  “Our enquiries are at an early stage into this incident and we are speaking with the injured man to find out more information on this incident, and trace the suspects.

“At this time I would urge any witnesses to the serious assault, or anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact Paisley Police Office through 101.
