Appeal for witnesses after man, 82, hit by car in Ealing

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an 82-year-old man was hit by a car in Ealing.

Police were called at 3.19pm on January 5 to reports of a collision on Gunnersbury Lane.

Met Police officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended. At the scene, an 82-year-old man was found to have been in collision with a blue coloured Mercedes A Class.

The car did not stop at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken by paramedics to a west London hospital where his condition remains critical but stable.

A 27-year-old man self-presented at a west London police station later that same day. He was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a road traffic collision and later released on bail.

The vehicle concerned was recovered.

Detective Constable Davina Nash, of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “I am very keen to hear from any drivers who were in the area who may have dash-cam footage of the circumstances surrounding this collision or anyone who witnessed the incident but hasn’t yet spoken with police.

“If you have information that could assist our investigation please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
