Appeal for witnesses after cyclist suffers serious head injury in Cumbernauld crash

A cyclist has been left with a serious head injury after a crash in Cumbernauld.

The 42-year-old was travelling southbound on Seafar Road, near to the junction with Dowanfield Road, around 12.10am on Saturday, August 8.

He came off his grey Cannondale mountain bike causing him to suffer a serious head injury.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The road was closed for around four hours to allow for crash investigation work to be carried out.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward.

Sergeant Roy McCarney of the Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and haven’t already spoken to officers to come forward.

“We are also appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who has dashcam footage or any other information which may assist to get in touch.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0053 of 8 August, 2020."
